Overview

Our fitness club manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of our fitness center. Oversee the activities of the fitness instructors and personal trainers that work in the center, manage the seasonal Kid's Program, and schedule the working hours for staff and ensure that there are enough team members to provide all of the offered services.

 

Candidates must be physically fit and should possess sound customer service, business, management, sales and marketing skills. Good problem solving, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are also essential. 

Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Relentlessly focused on providing the best possible experience for members, guests, vendors, and team members.
  • Maintaining the equipment, including repairing and replacing items as necessary.
  • Enhancing profitability by organizing and delivering an appropriate range of fitness activities and programs.
  • Setting and contributing to targets for attracting new members.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Proactively and professionally handle member complaints and suggestions.
  • Reviewing data about class attendance to identify opportunities.
  • Maintaining knowledge of the latest fitness trends.
  • Manage budgets and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with GM, owners, and department heads to create, establish, and enforce member policies.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the club and children's program.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fitness equipment knowledge.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Preferred knowledge of RDP and membership software.
  • Must be available to work a schedule that will include holidays, weekends, and varied shift times.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to work closely with team members, clients, and guests.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in fitness club management preferred.
  • Current industry certification through nationally recognized certifying body (NASM, ACE, ACSM, or NSCA) is beneficial but not required.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or the ability to become certified in the first 60 days of employment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • It may be necessary to lift/assist others in lifting heavy workloads up to 100 pounds or more - physical activity is expected.
